Collection: Four Evangelists

“The first living creature was like a lion, the second creature like a calf, the third creature had a face like that of a man, and the fourth creature was like a flying eagle.“ (Revelation 4:7)

Each creature St. John describes in the Book of Revelation represents a different Gospel writer, based on their perspective of Christ. Mark, the lion–the majesty of Christ. Luke, the ox–the sacrifice of Christ. Matthew, the man–the humanity of Christ. John, the eagle–the incarnation of Christ.
